Newtown Township Police Department said in a social media post on January 26, 2023 that after extensive traffic engineer research, directed patrol efforts, and community engagement, the speed reduction (35 to 25 mph) along Newtown Yardley Road (Washington Avenue) from the Newtown borough limits to Dolington Road has been approved by the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors.
In the near future, Newtown Public Works will be installing signage indicating the speed reduction from 35 mph to 25 mph, which will be strictly enforced by the Newtown Township Police Department.
This change was implemented to enhance the safety of pedestrians and commuters.
