PennDOT To Replace Street Road Bridge Over Curls Run In Solebury Township

PennDOT News, Road Work Updates | September 11th, 2017

PennDOT says construction is scheduled to begin Monday, September 18 on a three-month project to rehabilitate the structurally-deficient bridge carrying Street Road over Curls Run in Solebury Township, Bucks County.

Due to the nature of the repairs, Street Road will be closed between Atkinson Road and Windy Bush Road. Street Road motorists will be detoured over Ridge Road, Pineville Road and Pine Lane. The bridge is expected to re-open in mid-November.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

As part of the rehabilitation, crews will remove and replace the existing arch fill and pavement and reconstruct the stone masonry barriers, spandrel walls and wing walls along the right side of the bridge, which was damaged earlier this year from vehicular impact. The remaining stone masonry features will be cleaned and repointed.

Built in 1860, the one-span, stone masonry arch bridge is 13 feet long and 18 feet wide. The structure carries 1,300 vehicles a day. It is currently posted with a 33-ton weight limit.
