PennDOT To Replace State Road Bridge Over Cooks Creek In Springfield Township

PennDOT News, Road Work Updates | December 18th, 2017

PennDOT says construction is scheduled to begin in January to replace the bridge carrying State Road over a branch of Cooks Creek in Springfield Township, Bucks County. The new structure is expected to be completed in April 2018.

Beginning Tuesday, January 2, State Road will be closed and detoured between Richlandtown Pike and Quarry Road. Cars will be directed to use Richlandtown Pike, Passer Road and Pleasant View Road/Township Road. Trucks will be directed to use Richlandtown Pike, Route 212 (Quakertown Road/Church Road/Main Street), Route 313 (Broad Street) and Route 309.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area because slowdowns will occur.

Built in 1912, the existing structure is a one-span reinforced concrete slab bridge. It is 13 feet long and 26 feet wide, and carries an average of 1,463 vehicles a day.

PennDOT’s contractor will replace the bridge with a concrete rigid frame system as well as upgrade all safety features. The new structure will be 13 feet long and 29 feet wide.
