PennDOT to Pave Roundabout at Bridgetown Pike/Route 213 Intersection in Lower Southampton Township

PennDOT News, Road Work Updates | June 3rd, 2015

The intersection of Bridgetown Pike and Route 213 (Maple Avenue) in Lower Southampton Township, Bucks County, will be closed and detoured from Friday, June 5, through Sunday, June 21, for the paving of a new roundabout that is under construction.

This transportation improvement project is realigning the intersection of Route 213 (Maple Avenue) and Bridgetown Pike to create a single-lane roundabout to move traffic smoothly and safely through the point where the two state highways connect. The roundabout will improve traffic flow by eliminating the signalized intersection and the extremely tight left turn move from Bridgetown Pike to Route 213 (Maple Avenue). The roundabout is expected to open in late June.

During construction, Route 213 (Maple Avenue) and Bridgetown Pike through traffic will be detoured over Route 413, Route 213 (Maple Avenue), Old Lincoln Highway, Brownsville Road, and Bristol Road. Route 213 (Maple Avenue) and Bridgetown Pike will remain open to local traffic up to the construction area.

As part of this project, PennDOT’s contractor also is building a new bridge to replace the former structurally deficient Route 213 (Maple Avenue) bridge over the Neshaminy Creek in Middletown and Lower Southampton townships. The new bridge is expected to open in December.
