PennDOT Completes Roundabout, Reopens Langhorne-Yardley Road Intersection In Middletown Township

PennDOT News, Road Work Updates | August 15th, 2025

PennDOT District 6 has announced that construction has been completed on a new roundabout at the Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike Intersection under a $10.8 million project to improve traffic congestion and safety on Langhorne-Yardley Road at the Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road intersections in Middletown Township, Bucks County.

Under this contract, PennDOT’s contractor constructed a single-lane roundabout and realigned the roadway; installed upgraded traffic signals, stormwater management, ADA curb ramps, signage, and lighting; performed resurfacing operations; and improved mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Improvements on Langhorne-Yardley Road and its intersection with Woodbourne Road will continue through late 2025 and include realigning the northern leg of Woodbourne Road and constructing auxiliary turn lanes on all four approaches. The eastern leg of Woodbourne Road will also be widened to allow for a left turn lane on Langhorne-Yardley Road approaching Erica Drive.

Beginning Monday, August 18, through Friday, September 5, motorists will encounter weekday lane closures with flagging from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the following locations for roadway reconstruction:

  • Woodbourne Road between Kilburn Road and Core Creek Park
  • Langhorne Yardley Road between Briggs Road and Bridgetown Pike

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. In addition, features to improve pedestrian and bicyclist mobility include the following:

  • Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) installed at the following existing pedestrian crossings: Langhorne-Yardley Road just east of the Briggs Road Intersection; and on Woodbourne Road at the Core Creek Park and Maple Point Middle School crossings.
  • Five-foot-wide paved shoulders.
  • New paved paths along Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road to connect these intersections to the Core Creek Park driveways.
  • Pedestrian accommodations at the roundabout and signalized intersection.
  • Sidewalks constructed along the southern side of Langhorne-Yardley Road between Woodbourne Road and Briggs Road.
