The bridge is located on Edison Furlong Road between the intersections with Pebble Hill Road and Route 263. The Edison Furlong Road Bridge Replacement Project will include the replacement of Edison Furlong Road over Pebble Creek. The existing bridge will be replaced on the same alignment with a precast box culvert. The proposed construction will provide two, 11-foot travel lanes with 5-foot shoulders. To meet the hydraulic needs in the area, the roadway profile will be raised about two feet at the structure. Construction on this project is expected to begin in 2028.

A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for approximately three months. The proposed six-mile detour route will be posted using Route 611, U.S. 202, Route 313, and Route 263.

The existing concrete slab bridge was built in 1925. It is listed in fair condition. Approximately 7,097 vehicles use the bridge each day. The public will also be able to view the plans for the Edison Furlong Road Bridge Replacement Project online (coming soon). The project page will include digital copies of the project handout, a self-guide presentation, proposed plans, and a comment form.

Those unable to access the information online or attend the meeting may give feedback by contacting PennDOT Project Manager Brian Rasiul at c-brrasiul@pa.gov or 610-422-2378.

The purpose of the in-person meetings and project webpage is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project. It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
