PennDOT News, Road Work Updates | August 2nd, 2017

PennDOT has announced that the Loux Covered Bridge over Cabin Run on Carver-Wismer Road in Bedminster Township, Bucks County has been closed due to structural damage sustained from an oversized vehicle.

The bridge will remain closed indefinitely until PennDOT engineers evaluate the condition of the bridge and establish a repair plan.

During the closure, Carver-Wismer Road motorists will be detoured over Stump Road, Route 413 (Durham Road) and Dark Hollow Road.

Built in 1874 and reconstructed in 1996, the one-span, steel-I beam, timber-covered bridge is 80 feet long and 19 feet wide, and has a posted weight limit of 15 tons. The structure carries an average of 486 vehicles a day.
