Our Community Traffic Safety Program along with Lower Southampton Township Police Officer Gray Newman recently conducted bicycle safety lessons during physical education classes at Tawanka Elementary School of the Neshaminy School District.
The basics of proper helmet and bike fit, rules of the road, and correct hand signals to make to drivers and pedestrians were all taught during the lessons.
Students also had the opportunity to ask Officer Newman any questions regarding traffic safety.
“Partnering with local law enforcement to provide bike safety education in elementary schools is an investment in our children’s safety and our community’s future,” said TMA Bucks Community Traffic Safety Program manager Carly Wible. “By working together, we can teach young cyclists the rules of the road, build safe riding habits early, and foster positive relationships between students and the officers who serve their communities. These lessons empower children to make safer choices on every ride and help create safer streets for everyone.”
