U.S. 1 & Oxford Valley Road Travel Restrictions For Overhead Bridge Rehabilitation

PennDOT News, Road Work Updates | August 10th, 2017

PennDOT has announced that northbound and southbound U.S. 1 is scheduled to close at the Oxford Valley Road Interchange in Falls, Lower Makefield and Middletown townships, Bucks County, from Sunday, August 13, through Friday, August 18, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, for the removal of shielding and scaffolding as part of the rehabilitation of the structurally-deficient Oxford Valley Road overpass. During construction, U.S. 1 motorists will exit at Oxford Valley Road and then re-enter the highway at the entrance ramps at the interchange.

In addition, motorists will encounter nighttime lane closures in both directions on Oxford Valley Road between Cabot Boulevard and Big Oak Road in Falls and Lower Makefield townships, on Wednesday, August 16, through Friday, August 18, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, for the removal of concrete barriers and painting of new traffic lines in preparation for the opening of all travel lanes.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work zones because slowdowns will occur. The work schedule is weather dependent.

Crews began construction on November 14, 2016, to rehabilitate the Oxford Valley Road bridge. The structure remains open to traffic while the contractor repairs damage sustained when the bridge was struck by an oversized truck on June 29, 2015. Crews are replacing two steel beams and repairing three additional beams. Construction on the bridge is scheduled to finish later this month.
