No Cash Zone In Effect For Part Of PA Turnpike

PennDOT News, Road Work Updates | January 7th, 2016

In January 2016, a new cashless tolling point opened in Bucks County on the westbound PA Turnpike Bridge over the Delaware River. Tolls are now collected either through E-ZPass or the new PA Turnpike TOLL-BY-PLATE program to keep traffic moving at highway speeds.

As an E-ZPass customer, you continue to pay tolls at the new cashless tolling point the way you do at all other PA Turnpike tolling points: with your E-ZPass transponder. When you drive under the new westbound gantries at highway speed, your E-ZPass transponder is read and your account is automatically charged.

Don’t have E-ZPass? No problem. This new license plate tolling system, PA Turnpike TOLL-BY-PLATE, means if you are not an E-ZPass customer you will receive a bill in the mail. Cameras on the overhead gantry at the new cashless tolling point capture a vehicle’s license plate at highway speed, and a toll bill is mailed to the registered owner.
