Intermittent Traffic Stoppages Set Along I-95 Near Scudder Falls Bridge

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission says motorists traveling I-95 in the vicinity of the Scudder Falls Bridge might encounter intermittent traffic stoppages and slowdowns during overnight hours late Wednesday (May 10) and early Thursday (May 11).

A series of 15-minute-long closures of I-95 in both directions will be needed during the overnight period so utility workers can remove a series of electrical wires that cross the highway near the Taylorsville Road interchange (Exit 51) on the Pennsylvania side of Scudder Falls Bridge. The electrical lines are being rerouted to underground conduits as an advance preparation measure for the upcoming Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project.

Restricted travel periods of up to 15 minutes are expected to be employed at various intervals along I-95 from 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, to 3:00 a.m. Thursday, May 11. The electrical line work is limited to overnight hours because that is when traffic is lightest.

The scheduled travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, emergency and traffic considerations. Motorists are urged to reduce speeds and exercise caution when travelling through active work zones.
